I see them as a risk to our troops. The documents are classified for a reason, to protect our troops. Leaking out this information just gives the "enemy" the advantage and could get more of our troops killed. I know the mainstream media would love to give out any information it could get it's hands on. Nothing like "dirty laundry" to air.
Because it is a war zone, classified documents that are still vital to the safety of our troops should NEVER be made public, period. Now that said, if there are human right abuses, war crimes and other atrocatie's being committed by us, our... allies or anyone else, they should be brought to light thru the Court that deals with that, The Hauge, in Neatherlands. If the numbers I am hearing our correct that would place the Taliban as the major human rights abuser/war criminals, with 2000 plus deaths to our 200 plus, no innocent life should be loss in any senseless act of violence, but leaking information that endanger our troop is a major war crime it's self.
The general public has no need to know this information! The press is doing their best to turn the public against the war just like they did in VietNam. Let the military fight the battle and prosecute those who leak classified information to the max. If the leak equals treason, prosecute like we really mean it!
Since WWII the congress has been reluctant to declare war on any nation like Korea, Vietnam, Afgan or Iraq. but to the soldier on the ground they are still getting shot at by an enemy bent on doing so it is a war to them. Leaking any military secrets about a combat operations in the combat zone would have been a charge of treason before and during WWII. I believe that the leakee should be caught, tried and instead of sending them to jail send them to the combat zone, with the troops they released information about. Poetic justice?
