Jim joined the SkyView Forecast Team in August of 2007. Jim’s love for the weather began at the early age of three when a tornado struck a near-by nature center. As the years went on, Jim can recall on countless occasions watching the stormy skies with his late father. “He would always make sure everything was O.K. and the storm had passed before calling me to come outside. He just wanted to be a big part of my dream, to become a meteorologist, which he was.”

Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from St. Cloud State University in May of 2006. Shortly before coming to the Black Hills, Jim was a weather intern for KSTP-TV in the Twin Cities, and was also working as a meteorologist for a forecasting company in Burnsville, MN.

When he’s not forecasting your weather, Jim loves spending time with his wife (and high school sweetheart) Nicole, his family (whenever he can, seeing they are back in Minnesota), and friends. Jim is also a huge hockey fan and baseball fan, cheering on his Minnesota Wild, his Alma Matter the St. Cloud State Huskies, the Minnesota Twins, and of course you will find him in the stands again this year, cheering on the hometown team, the Rapid City Rush. He also loves anything and everything about the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, & biking.

You can catch Jim’s forecast every Saturday and Sunday night on Black Hills Fox News at 9:00 pm.
