Fish Garbage Services and 7 others face criminal charges for grand theft

Grand Jury indictments have been brought against a Rapid City waste hauler, Fish Garbage Service Incorporated, along with seven men, on charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated grand theft and other charges.

Judge Jeff Davis has signed arrest warrants for George Fish, Clifford Fish, Harold Steen, Matthew Gibson, Charles Cordes, Steven Pope and Randall Meidinger. Court documents say the men obtained $100,000 in free services from the city between January 1, 2003 and January 13, 2010.

According to the indictment documents, George Fish,Vice President of the company, is being charged with bribing a public official. Randall Meidinger, a city official, is being charged with solicitation of an unauthorized fee by a public officer.

Gibson, Cordes, Pope, and Steen were all on the payroll at Fish Garbage Services. The company itself is being charged with aggravated grand theft.

Fish Garbage Services has been hauling garbage on contract in Rapid City for 13 years. Last December, the city of Rapid City revoked the company's license and is now bringing a lawsuit against the firm.
